INTRODUCTION:

For Photos see Oz Trip 1.

EDITH FALLS:

There is a five day walk from Katherine Gorge to the Edith Falls region of Nitmiluk National Park. Otherwise a 60km drive from Katherine will bring you to Edith Falls.

The campground is located right on the plunge pool of the lower falls, which provides a wonderful spot to cool off in the hotter months. Located here are BBQs, toilets, showers and grassy campsites.

Leliyn Trail:

The Leliyn Trail is a 2.6km circuit from the camping area to the top of the escarpment. There are a couple of lookouts along the way. The Upper Pools also provide a wonderful place to cool off, in a much quieter location than the lower pool.

Sweetwater Trail:

The Sweetwater Trail follows the Edith River to the Sweetwater Pools. This is an 8.5km return walk and will take about a day to complete. At Long Hole Freshwater Crocodiles may be seen, as well as the waterlilies. From Sweetwater the trail continues to Katherine Gorge, but this can only be travelled from Katherine Gorge.
